House Explosion on Esdras Place!

Today's posting is a very tragic one indeed. There is a real pall over the neighborhood since yesterday. The next street over from where I live was the unfortunate scene of a house explosion. An elderly gentleman who seemed to be home alone perished as the house was very rapidly engulfed in flames, preventing him from making it out. A next door neighbor tried to haul him out of a basement window, but was unable to do so, and was overwhelmed by heavy black smoke and flames. The Windsor Fire Dept was on the scene in about 5 minutes, but the house was pretty much gone by that time. The neighbor who tried to pull him from the basement was standing across the road, crying his heart out. It was indeed a heart wrenching sight to behold. There was construction in progress on Esdras Place at the time, and of course it will take several days before the various investigations are completed. Even though we did not know this gentleman since we are relatively newcomers to the area, our sincere condolences go to his family, friends and neighbors. Our thoughts are with you........

How sad David. We, here in North Bay, have had our share of fires the last few weeks.

Hi Mike,
I read the Nugget online, and read of the fires that took lives in North Bay. Life is so uncertain eh? Thanks, Dave

Very sad - strange juxtaposition - sunny day and flames

Hi Krys & Paul,
Thanks for looking in today. It was a very strange scene for sure. The wind was very cold, but the heat was intense, even from where I was standing. Thanks, Dave
